Our first Shovels...
Our push to get second-hand tools from the local community has born fruit with the first two shovels being dropped off at J Alex Brown (Hardware) in town. Many thanks to James for holding on to them for us. It really is much appreciated! Thank you to whoever it was who dropped it off. Your donation is much appreciated and will be of great help to us!
If you think you might have a spare spade, shovel, broom, or even a sack barrow lurking in the back of your shed or garage that you no longer need do please consider donating it to us
Many thanks
Kind Regards

PPE has arrived....
Yes, now there is no excuse not to be dressed like a traffic cone! Our first instalment of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) has arrived from the suppliers and is now safely stored in our storage container. Nearly ready for our first crowd marshalling event on 12th of July.
We will have to have a trial PPE wearing to see if we can make our Hi Viz look as cool and casual as the adverts!
There is still plenty of room in our container for any spare brooms, spades, or shovels. Please do drop them off in town at J Alex Brown Hardware on Silver Street

First Aid Apps
Following our first aid training our trainer at the British red Cross recommended downloading first Aid Apps onto our smart phones. The British red Cross do both an adult and child first aid app:
British red Cross App
My smart phone is so old and clunky that it couldn't cope with the British red Cross App so I downloaded the St Johns Ambulance App instead which is just as good!
St Johns Ambulance App
You don't need to have done any formal training to use these and they are free to download. GET THEM ON YOUR PHONE! They could help you save a life!

Crowd Marshall Training
An interesting evening last night with Surriya Subramaniam from Wiltshire Councils Emergency Planning Team giving us the benefit of his considerable experience in preparing us for crowd marshalling at various events in town throughout the year. It was good to welcome some new faces from our recent recruitment drive at the Town Councils Recruitment Fair.
The training notes are now up on the blog so enjoy!

Weather Warning Issued For Wiltshire...
A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for Wiltshire from Fri 12th to Sat 13th June.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ba15?day=2
Primary risk is from surface water flooding due to potential heavy downpours and blocked gullies. If you know your property is at risk from surface water flooding now is the time to check your emergency bag (See our blog page for details of what this should contain) and flood plan (again this can be downloaded from the appropriate page of our blog) and maybe clear any blocked gutters and gullies around your property.
The river levels are very low at the moment and there are currently no flood warnings issued by the Environment Agency

The CEVs need your Shovels, Brooms & Spades!
Now we have a lovely new storage container we need something to fill it with! The CEVs in conjunction with the Alex Brown Hardware store in town (Thank you James) are now asking the residents of Bradford whether you have any spare shovels, brooms, spades, and buckets (Plastic Buildings buckets preferred) you might wish to give us to carry out our roles as flood wardens and snow wardens. If you don't have a spare tool then perhaps you might consider buying one for us. A full list of our equipment requirements including numbers required is available at Alex Brown Hardware.
Drop off your spare tools at Alex Brown Hardware, Silver Street, Bradford on Avon.
No buckets with holes in please as they don't hold much water or salt!
Thank you for your support

Our Container Has Arrived...
Yes after much effort and coordination we now have a container safely delivered to the Fire Station yard ready for storing our tools and equipment.
Delivery lorry arrives (It was bigger than I was expecting!)
HIAB is positioned over the container
Our Container is suspended in mid air!
Located in its final position
Many thanks to all who made this possible including the Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Council Area Board, and Bradford on Avon Town Council. It feels like we've arrived at last!
